Our family member was hospitalized at MGH to undergo neurosurgery for the removal of a recently diagnosed brain tumor. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff in Lunder 6 for their dedicated and professional care. Our family is particularly grateful to Tina Ward who works in the Neuro-ICU department. Tina took care of our mother immediately following her surgery. Tina's care was outstanding and made a profound impact on her recovery after surgery. It is indeed difficult to find the proper words to express our gratitude and appreciation for Tina’s care – it was miraculous and went above and beyond what would typically be expected from an ICU nurse. Tina spent a significant amount of time with our mother. Tina was always knowledgeable about her health condition, recent test results, and overall progress and was always proactively seeking to best help her.

As an example, following surgery, our mother was very weak and hardly eating and drinking; Tina miraculously succeeded in motivating her to eat and drink which is a testament to the trust and rapport Tina was able to build with her. In addition, Tina was also the first person who was able to motivate her to begin rehabilitation and walk again for the first time following her procedure.

As you can imagine the process of undergoing neurosurgery is very difficult not only for patients but also for patients' families. As a family, we were under tremendous pressure prior to and following the procedure. Tina’s attitude towards us as a family was incredibly full of compassion, warmth, and support. We have no doubt that Tina truly cared from the depths of her heart about our mother and about us. Tina's dedication and passion regarding her role in our mother’s recovery helped us to get through what is perhaps the most challenging situation we have ever faced as a family, and we are immensely grateful to her for that.
